Biography
Dr. Sebahat Gözüm completed her MSc and PhD in the field of Public Health Nursing at the University of Atatürk, Erzurum, Turkey. She has been Dean of the Faculty of Nursing in Turkey since August 2012. For the past 16 years she has provided dissertation consultancies to over 14 students to improve evidence-based and advanced practice nursing roles. She has served the following research projects with leader or consultation: Raising awareness of female, her patients and families with breast cancer about more comprehensive care and information; Supporting program of domestic scientific activities: II. National Intercultural Nursing Congress. She has been also participating four projects as a leader, consultation or researcher: Evaluation of quality, content and usage of prepared web page for family members caring for stroke patients; Evaluation of education given to family members caring for bedridden patients and using home care services; Developing of skills of nursing students and using of scenario-based simulation in the care of pregnant women with cardiac problems; Development of professional skills related to the care of the newborn in nursing students. She has published more 65 peer reviewed articles. She is the author of a chapter, integrative nursing in Turkey, in Integrative Nursing book. She has received awards from The Association of Integrative Medicine in 2014. Also she has won awards for oral and poster presentations in National and International Congress since 2000. Her current research interests focus on development of public health nursing, community health, integrative nursing, complementary health approaches, scale adaptation, cancer screening (breast, colorectal, prostate) behaviours, health beliefs, transcultural nursing.
